Iceland

Our first stop on this tour is ICELAND 🇮🇸. It was super cold and rainy but that didn't stop the party. Once we got settled (kicked off the bus, stranded in the middle of nowhere, etc) we were super juiced to head to The Blue Lagoon. After seeing my mother (Yonce) + her man hit up this steamy geothermal Spa, I knew I had to make my way to this beacon of nature. *4 years later.. here I am!!*  Aside from the spa, Iceland has so much to offer but YOU NEED A CAR! I would def come back to check out 1. Gullfoss 2. The Golden Circle 3. The Black Sand Beach, they were a tad too far for our 19 hr layover. We did however visit Hallgrímskirkja, which is Iceland's largest church.

Here are a few key highlights:
  • The sun didn't set until about 10pm - which left way more time to explore!
  • The blue lagoon is even better then what you see in pictures - The water is so warm & you get a complimentary silica face mask. We had the premium package, which includes 2 drinks, 2 face masks, a towel, a robe, and flip flops per person. The premium package is def worth it, the basic package doesn't include a drink or a robe. You'll freeze without the robe and things come out cheaper with the premium package. WARNING: Silica is great for your skin, but makes your hair very stiff!!!! I suggest a HIGH bun / a ton of conditioner in prior to entering.
  • In a country where a majority of the people are white, it was refreshing to meet folks that look like us -  We basically turned the lagoon into a link up (note: there was only 7 of us total lmfao)
  • The food is as expensive as they say it is - We spent $28 dollars at KFC (best KFC I've ever had) but dodged a restaurant at the Lagoon that was serving up seasonless dishes for $54 a plate.
  • It’s cold AF in Iceland - It’s the middle of summer and it was maybe 50 degrees
  • iPhone X portrait mode - The bangers taken were all before I dropped my phone DEEP into the lagoon. I tried not to have a panic attack in front of my new "cousins" but they all understood. Pls don't take your phone out of the waterproof pouch, even when it does fog up. -_-
SN: Still very new to blogging, so lmk in the "Holla @ us" OR comments section if there's anything you'd like to see more of! :)
